Details A Fine Victorian Enamel scent flask by Mordan. Fully hallmarked around the neck of the bottle and on the top for 1887. The enamel floral decoration is in perfect condition with no flaking or damage whatsoever. The reverse is engraved with a mongram 'CAM'. Superb quality and excellent condition throughout.

Details A Very Fine Victorian Scent bottle in the form of a willow pattern plate/charger with a silver mount by Sampson Mordan. The porcelain base decorated to both sides and around the edge in this very popular pattern it bears the registration number 29260 on the underside, possibly supplied by the Worcester factory. Excellent condition throughout with the monogram 'FJH' in script to the lid. No faults whatsoever.

Details A Very Fine Victorian double ended scent bottle made by Sampson Mordan. Engraved all around with song birds and butterflies amongst branches and blossom. Hallmarked on the body and both caps, additionally with 'S. Mordan and Co.' underneath the glass plate on the sprung lid. An excellent bottle with fine decoration.

Details A Superb and very large Victorian scent bottle of fluted form. Engraved with the crest of a bird and marked with both a full set of hallmarks and a design registration number Rd. 130648. Additionally this piece is engraved around the neck with the retailers name, that of 'Thornhill and Co. Bond Street W.' This is very high quality bottle evidenced by the fact it was retailed by one of the top London firms Thornhill and Co. It is in excellent condition with it's original glass liner and stopper both fully intact. Surprisingly there are no dents to the body and only one tiny pin head dent to the fluting on the lid. This piece has survived in remarkable condition and is a stunning example of it's type.

Details An Unusual Victorian scent bottle decorated in Aesthetic taste with flowers and birds on both the body of the bottle and the lid. Edwin Culver is not known for making scent bottles although I have seen several high quality pieces by this maker all decorated in a similar manner. This high quality scent is in excellent condition, complete with glass liner and stopper.

Details A Rare Georgian Vinaigrette with an unmarked GOLD mount. circa 1800 the body is a black glass with a very lightly etched floral decoration. Instead of the usual hinge top, there is a gold plate integral with the top that pivots to close off the grill. A very rare form of this type of vinaigrette.

Details An Extremely Fine double ended bottle with silver gilt mounts by George Brace and retailed by Howell and Co. London. Each of the silver gilt mounts set with a horshoe made from corals on the screw end and turquoises on the hinge end. The metal plate under the spring cap end reads 'Howell and Co. London' - the retailer. Established in 1855 Geo. Brace is recorded as a cut glass manufacturer and by 1860 he is listed as a mounter of dressing case fittings, scent and smelling bottles. There are many pieces noted by Brace with only a makers mark and no hallmark including a silver gilt mounted green glass salts/scent flask c1875 retailed by Howell and Co. of London. Superb Condition. Minor discoloration to one of the turquoise 'beads'.

Details An Unusual Victorian glass scent bottle modelled as a bird's egg detailed throughout the glass with gold flecks. The white body overlaid in a pink 'peach blow' glass typical of the stourbridge factories in the UK. The screw top silver mount fully hallmarked for London 1886 by Sampson Mordan. The Mordan Company were prolific mounters of ceramic bases modelled as bird's eggs, but these glass examples are much more unusual. Excellent condition throughout.

Details A Good Victorian Scent bottle by Sampson Mordan. The cylindrical body engraved throughout with leaf and scroll decoration which is very crisp. The interior of the lid is gilded and the cartouche on the top of the lid is vacant having never been engraved. This bottle has its glass liner and stopper intact and is in virtually untouched condition showing no wear to the engraved decoration or play in the hinge.

Details A Fine Victorian white over yellow Cameo glass scent bottle, probably by Thomas Webb. The silver mount by Saunders and Shepherd and clearly made for the export market. Unusually it bears their makers mark CS*FS but not English hallmarks. It is marked 'STD' 'SILVER' for standard silver. Decorated on both sides of the glass body with different flower motifs. Small repair to a split along the original seam of the top.

Details A Superb double ended scent bottle by Sampson Mordan. Engraved with scrolling foliate decoration. One end being for scent with a screw cap and the other for smelling salts with a hinge lid. This piece is fully hallmarked on both the body of the bottle and the screw end and part marked on the inside of the hinge lid. Condition is superb, this bottle appears to have never been used. The decoration shows no wear and the original liners have never seen scent !! even the cork in the top of the screw top is original and untouched. You will not find a Mordan piece in better condition.

Details A Victorian Scent bottle modelled as a Creamware Plate/Charger. This Creamware body is one of a series of plates/chargers bearing mounts by Mordan including the well known Willow pattern and Imari pieces which can also be seen on this website. This creamware example with orange flowers and gilt decoration is one of the more difficult pieces in this series to find. There is some light staining and light crazing to the body and two tiny dents in the cap.

Details A wonderful Victorian scent bottle of waisted form and in the style of the French glass 'Clichy'. The clear glass embodied with alternate pink and white glass ribbons. The exterior of the glass is ribbed adding an additonal visual effect to this very fine scent bottle. Silver top, the stopper is a replacement. Excellent condition throughout.

Details A Good Victorian Scent bottle in the form of an imari charger with a silver mount by Sampson Mordan. The porcelain base decorated to both sides with strong imari style coloring it bears the registration number 29260 on the underside, possibly supplied by the Worcester factory. The coloring is very strong but there is wear to the gilding around the outer edges especially around the top. (see photos). Nevertheless one of Mordans trademark designs.

Details AN EXCEPTIONAL AND RARE SCENT BOTTLE BY SAMPSON MORDAN. MADE IN LONDON AND FULLY HALLMARKED FOR 1882. Decorated in KATE GREENAWAY style with an unusual subject matter, depicting a boy sitting on a picket fence playing a horn with a yacht on a lake in the background.
Kate Greenaway designs appear on Mordan scent bottles generally dating between 1881 and 1884. Kate Greenaway (1846 - 1901) was an illustarator of childrens books in the Victorian period and her illustrations typically picture children with animals and birds in the English countryside sometimes on Mordan pieces with a church in the background. This subject depicted on this bottle is rarer than usual and the piece is in superb conditon.

Details A Very Fine and Rare Victorian combination scent bottle and vinaigrette by Sampson Mordan. Of cylindrical form with engraved scrolling decoration this bottle appears to be one of the maker's 'common forms', however unusually it has a shallow vinaigrette section built into one end. The gilt pierced detachable grill with arabesque style engraving is fully hallmarked on the underside. The other end opens to a scent bottle with glass liner of usual form. Hallmarked on all parts and in excellent untouched condition.

Details A Rare and very early white opaline glass scent bottle with silver gilt push button activated spring top, fully hallmarked for London 1852. This early spring-cap mechanism is claimed to have been invented by Thomas Diller (1828 - 1851) and is indicitive of only the best quality pieces. The cartouche engraved with a mirror cypher below a coronet. Thomas Robert Mellish is listed from 1852 until 1856/1857 as a patent glass warehouse, glass cutter and glass mounter. Pieces of this type and of the period are frequently unmarked. With a full set of hallmarks for 1852 this piece is really a benchmark for the period.

Details A VERY RARE Mid Victorian Ruby glass scent bottle. The engraved silver gilt push button top set with many turquoise. The vacant central gold disc is surrounded by a circle of tuquoise. This early spring-cap mechanism is claimed to have been invented by Thomas Diller (1828 - 1851) and is indicitive of only the best quality pieces. The silver gilt plate under the hinge top marked 'West' - presumably for the retailer's 'West's of Dublin'. Turquoise set pieces are unusual and this is of the highest standard. Excellent condition showing only very minor discoloration to one or two turquoise.

Details A Fine Edwardian scent bottle by Sampson Mordan. Decorated on both sides with scrolling foliage. Fully hallmarked for Chester 1906 on the body of the bottle around the screw thread (typical of Mordan). Perhaps originally part of a chatelaine it has two chains linked by a ring. Superb condition throughout, the engraving is finely executed and shows no wear.

Details A superb double ended cranberry glass scent bottle by Mordan, unusually for this date it is fully marked on caps and collars. One end being a hinge top and the other a screw cap. The silver ends are exquisitley engraved with scroll design. In my opinion this comes second only to the double ended examples with solid gold mounts by the same maker.

Details An incredible Victorian red glass double ended scent bottle made by the best scent bottle maker S.MORDAN and Co of London and marked on the inside of the flip top (see photo). Most unusually the ends of the bottle are GOLD and it has the crest of a gentleman engraved on one end and a monogram on the other. Gold mounted scents of this quality are very difficult to find.
